Sietze Meijer M.Sc. graduated in 2008 as a building engineer from the faculty of Architecture in Delft University of Technology on adapting existing housing stock in the Dutch province of Zeeland to be able to cope with sea and fluvial floodings. Currently he works on the European “Livinggreen.eu” project and his PhD-research. Livinggreen.eu aims to promote sustainable renovation of cultural heritage buildings in North West Europe for which Sietze organises the Livinggreen Labs. His PhD-topic deals with the resilience of the built environment and how this can be enhanced by stimulating bottom-up initiatives. His interests lie in what the consequences of climate change are for the built environment and how cities and their residents can deal with those consequences. Common theme of the European project and his PhD is to define and improve the resilience of the built environment.
